I just played the new Hopping Along game with a 7th grader who is beginning level seven. She really enjoyed it and found it challenging, especially because she had to state a reason why she would have to drop, double, change, or do nothing. And in this process, she and I both realized that she needed this review. The best part is that you can play with either level 5, 6, or 7 students using different cards. I see that the game is going to help me teach these concepts, and that students will have fun while reviewing them. I was hesitant at first because it is pricy; however, when I realized that I was getting three games in one, it made sense. I highly recommend Hopping Along.

I have been using the Hopping Along game since May with students in Barton Levels 5 through 8, boys and girls, ages 10 to 14. They’ve all loved it and it gives them great on-the-spot practice with their drop/double/change rules. Kids love anything with spinners and “real” game pieces instead of plastic chips. It’s well-made and sturdy, and I am very happy with the professional look of the game.

Janna has really done it again! This game is GREAT! I have ALL of her games, and this one is one of my students’ favorites. She has absolutely thought through every possible scenario to make it user friendly. The different level cards have a slightly different color, so they can be added or taken out when needed. Each card has the lesson # on it, so you can go to that lesson to reteach if necessary. It is a good review even for ME, when we have to give the reason for each drop/double or change!! Brilliant!!

I purchased this game and played it with a student who had just finished the Doubling Rule in Level 5. We had already gone through the majority of the lesson and I really thought this student “got it.” But, when we started playing Hopping Along, it became apparent that she didn’t have it…at all! This was worth the price of the game! This is the information that I really need to know, and Hopping Along brought that to light. Next session, I was able to go back and reteach the Doubling Rule and played the game again, which solidified this concept with her. This game was extremely helpful!
